Now that the talk is done, the action has been taken and people are actually reading ... my very own book I have been doing lots of thinking, lots of reminiscing and a lot of wondering what the next big move is. The feedback and the love have been incredible and truly have exceeded my expectations ... with the love though, you also have the hate and that's okay as long as you don't dwell in it. As long as you don't focus on it. As long as you don't cave into it. I have had my far share of both, but I just try to strive to only focus on the good unless it's constructive criticism. The rest can kick rocks.
In life you will have those that support you with everything in them and those that don’t support you with everything in them. As you make decisions about your purpose it is important to develop a golden heart, a hard head and tough skin.
You need a golden heart for when the hate is real. For when you need to remind yourself that love is in fact greater than any sort of hatred. For when you need to feel something warm and fuzzy again. For when you need to feel something that makes you remind yourself that love actually does conquer all.
You need a hard head for when people make you question your purpose. It is important to be stubborn when it comes to your values. When it comes to your why. When it comes to your overall mission. That hard head is going to keep you grounded. It’s going to keep you focused. It’s going to give you a challenge, a challenge to never quit your day dream regardless of what is being spread behind or in front of your back.
You need the tough skin for when the going gets rough. For when you have negative vibes trying to come your way. For when you have ugly words thrown at you. For when something or someone tries to run you down little by little. The tough skin comes in handy when you’re tired of being looked down upon, when you don’t want to cast revenge and when you just want to move on.
These three things are the key to letting not one soul steal your thunder. The keys to always moving full throttle in the direction YOU want and need to move in. The golden heart is the passion, the hard head is the force, and the tough skin is the balance.
Trust me when I say you need all three because regardless of those supporters I said you have, the ones that support you with everything in them, the ones that create an army that will stand behind you and also stand up for you … well for every army there are a few non-supporters. People that will not stand behind you but try to stand in front of you and not stand up for you but against you.
It’s okay though. It’s life and it’s important to know that not everyone wants to move with you. That not everyone believes in what you believe in. That not everyone wants to live the dream. Sometimes, it’s a tough pill to swallow. Sometimes it’s going to bring tears and headaches upon you. Sometimes it’s going to make you laugh because it’s just utter nonsense. But, overall it’s quite normal to have these people when you build your empire. It’s quite normal to have the haters, naysayers, and egoists.
What’s best to do? To ignore it. To continue on with your life. To keep grinding away. So, do the best you can and live your best life despite it all. Keep smiling. Keep thriving and don’t let anyone steal your thunder.
To my supporters – Thank you for having my back. For not only standing behind me but for standing up for me. For believing in something that is greater than me. For helping me build an army of livin’ the dreamers. For making a movement that actually moves, keeping alive a legacy, and believing kindness is always the answer.
Thank you for being there for me through ALL of life’s ups and downs. Through life’s rock bottom moments and life’s celebrations. For being a part of milestones and celebrations. For always doing your part.
Thank you for challenging me to always be better. To never stop wanting to do more. To creating a deeper passion for what I do.
Thank you for not only making sure I have a golden heart, a hard head and tough skin but having all three as well. For sharing those golden hearts with me, reminding me that I can be stubborn at times and that it’s okay and that tough skin is a part of life, love and business.
Forever grateful and forever humbled by this experience. Here’s to letting no one steal my thunder and to all the supporters for supporting a cause.
