Today and everyday, be thankful. Thanksgiving is one of those awesome holidays that just gives you a chance for a little bit of self-reflection. It's not about only being thankful on the fourth Thursday of November, or being thankful for the entire month of November. Instead, it's a day to make sure you're being thankful and grateful everyday. So take a step back and look at your days...
Be thankful for what you have. Be thankful for who you have. Your life, no matter how bad you may think it is, is someone else's fairytale.
Happiness, thankfulness comes when we stop complaining about the troubles that we have and offer thanks on the troubles we don't have. To open our mind to new perspectives.
Now, here are some of my Thanksgiving rules. Yes I am giving you rules. But hang tight, they are fun and easy I promise. Other than being thankful, saying please and thank you to everyone who contributed to your beautiful and delicious dinner, giving lots of hugs and kisses to family, telling those you're with and not with that you love and appreciate them ... here are some of my favorite rules on this day of thanks ...
"It's all fun and games until your jeans don't fit." -- Keep the game going, please. So make sure you put your stretchy pants on or a pair of leggings instead of jeans. Heck, maybe just wear your pajamas to dinner.
"Thanksgiving is great because people tend to speak less when food is lodged in their mouths." -- If you have a family like me (who I love dearly), and everyone loves to talk and tell stories and hear themselves speak (myself included), use dinner time as your much needed quiet time.
"Leftovers are for quitters." -- Don't quit. Quitting is for losers. Quitting is dumb. Don't be lame. Therefore, go for a round 2, round 3, maybe a round 4? Definitely do for a piece of pie or 6.
"Fitness? More like fitness whole turkey in my mouth." -- I say, fitness whole turkey in your mouth for sure. Do you. But ... maybe take a little jog in the morning that way you have the room for it and you'll feel a hell of a lot better in those stretchy pants of yours.
"The party don't stop till I've tried everything." -- Don't be a party pooper. Chances are many people in your family slaved over this food and it would be rude to not try it all.
"Here's to family, food, and awkwardly avoiding politics at the dinner table." -- Cheers to avoiding awkward conversations throughout your day. Keep it classy ... if you're into that sort of thing.
"Stay tuned for a performance of the traditional dance of Thanksgiving: the Turkey Trot." -- No better way to get some post-thanksgiving dinner exercise in like a wine-induced dance party in the kitchen with your fam.
"About to nap, see you 2018." -- When the food is just too much take a nap so you can prepare yourself for more.
