Decide and do.

Decide something.  Decide everything.

I am a huge believer in the idea of you being the controller of your own destiny. You control what you do and how you do it. Sure, the people that surround you are key influences in this process, but ultimately everything ends up on your shoulders (and let's be honest you're the only one that feels the weight on them). You my friend are the deciding factor. The one that takes that first step. Someone might have literally pushed you in order for you to move, but your brain had to acknowledge it and say "SHIT, land your foot!"  The one that presses continue, pushes the gas pedal, hits the throttle. The one that says the final "yes."

So why are we so afraid to say yes? To make a decision? We don't want to leave our cozy little world and enter into unknown territory.  We don't want to meet knew people.  Try new things. We most definitely don't want to be uncomfortable.

We've all heard it -- be comfortable with being uncomfortable.  A contradiction I say often, and I believe in, but do I actually feel it? Nah. Most of the time little lady Alexa is just as scared as the next to actually leap into the faith of the unknown.

My next idea is to try to take the leap.  Make decisions and trust in them.  To remember that I am the one that carries the weight.  I am the one that says yes or says no.  No one else.  No one feels my regret or guilt for doing or not doing something.  You start to make losses or gains in your life with every decision that you make. (Ah, kinda terrifying) Don't overthink it.  Just do it.

So decide this: Is this the life you want to be living?  Is this really the best you can be? Can you be stronger? Can you afford to have a little more fun in your life?

Maybe you need more chocolate, dance parties, and an entire pizza to yourself.  Maybe you need to wake up early, workout, and eat salad for every meal.  Maybe you want to go back to school, get a new job, or travel more.

Decide to do it.  Make moves people or that weight on your shoulders is going to get pretty dang hot and heavy.

  1. Don't overthink.
  2. Don't miss out on opportunities.
  3. Decide and do.
